It was decided at our national conference in California that Sex Workers Outreach Project should include or extend our services and resources to poc and transgendered sex workers.

Having been a trans sex worker both on and off the streets, I have volunteered to explore what is possible between SWOP and your group.

Our resources are, in house lawyers, who have created legislations to benefit sex workers. One was passed by the city, and one of the lawyer who created that legislation brought a case to court and won on her behalf using the new bill.

Another is, We train voters to meet with their representatives and senators to lobby on behalf of our legislation.

We also have a trained a ‘media team’ to get our message across over the mass media’s need to sensationalize with lurid and sleazy headings and headlines. Our media person has been on CNN, FOX Cable, NBC, as well as NY Times, Daily News, Metro newspaper and more. They also cover our media events. While we do not get the international coverage that SlutWalks get, we do OK.

Socially, SWOP has a social gathering once a month for former and present sex workers.

Once a month, we have cabaret by and for sex workers at Happy Endings bar in NYC.

Also monthly, SWOP has a social and business meeting. The latter feels like pleasant socializing rather than a business meeting, which it definitely is.

It is hoped that we can work together to offer TG sex workers a wider social world, free from LGBTQ’s disapproving behavoir towards us, while introducing them to legal and political methods to better the lives of all sex workers. Then there are media events to gain public support.

Let me begin in the 1980’s.  My workers & I were eating in a restaurant when about 20 cop cars came roaring down Powell and down O’Farrell. They were so hyped up, their cars bumped into each other as they came to a stop.  Wild eyed cops jumped out with shot guns and started running towards Macy’s.  A worker got up to go out and see what was happening. I yelled at him, “Get away from the door!  You’re NOT a whitey!”  Just like Dr. Henry Louis Gates, he didn’t know he was an “Afro American academic asshole”

Slutwalk IS a white people movement AIMED at ‘the enemy’, white men.

economically & socially.  Additionally, there are many allied org’s
who’s services overlap 147w24 organizations’.
Then there are all those coalitions…

What they do need is SWP-SWOP’s lobby & media training.

Legal:
For TG workers the dress they’re wearing is all the evidence they
need.

Economic:
nuff said

Social:
TG’s are comfortable in TG surroundings. Most would be uncomfortable
in a non TG social settings and put on ‘airs’.  Also I don’t feel like
training peeps on how to avoid TG unpleasantness.

Personally, I’ll be focusing more on the “LGBTQ homeless youth” fad
Homeless TG’s?  Has the TG community changed that much?
Another personal project - I’ll go on the streets to see how TG sex
work and arrest has change.

I introduced myself as National SWP’s trans outreach, because he seemed to be focusing on transgender issue now.

I want to know what we want from or with him. Simply put:
Why do we want to associate with him?
What do we want from him?

I intend to begin by asking him what TG issues interests him then try to add TG sex workers to his TG project.

If Pauline Park hasn’t met him, I will find someway for them to help each other achieve their goals. This is what I want out of him, What do you want?

Somewhere in 1970s

Glo, my roommate came home a week late, she had finally been busted in Time Square for hooking, this was her first.  She passed easily, even though she was on the tall side.  She passed because she was blond and very very pretty and no adult, including cops noticed anything else.  I guess she got high and got too confident and got busted.

She came home smiling and one of the first thing she said was, “I met this fab queen named Sylvia.  I was so scared but she calmed me down.”

Sylvia had to be THE Sylvia, who else would not be put off by Glo’s beauty to reach out to a newbie and allay her fears?

This Monday evening, something Kian Goh said to the audience surprised me. She said that the busted queens plead guilty to a lesser charge.  I didn’t want to believe her, so I went up to SRLP next day and asked.  They confirmed Kian.

In the ’70s, we all plead NOT guilty.  Judge would say, “guilty as charged.  Sentenced is time served.”

Some “S.T.A. Revolutionists” would shout indignantly, “I’m NOT guilty.  I demand a lawyer!”

All that has slipped down the black hole of history, but Sylvia’s myth still lives :D  and hopefully this entry will live on too.

FYI:  There use to be a tombs phone number you call to find out if your pal has been arrested, tho in the ’70s queens kept giving new names as their own, just to mess with the system and ‘them’
